Dq1000 Mass Spectra Examples
Individual mass spectra from the dq1000 can be used in the same way that high resolution
GC spectra are used: to provide a visual and diagnostic chemical fingerprint of
the fluid. Examples above illustrate hydrocarbon shows of increasing wetness and
variable aromaticity. Presence of BTEX compounds suggests concentration of these
species via solubility in water, and forms the basis of the proximity to pay concept
discussed later.
P = C4+ paraffin
N = C4+ naphthene
B = Benzene
T = Toluene
X = Xylenes
Inclined yellow line roughly connects n-alkane peaks and indicates shallowing of
slope with increased percentage of higher hydrocarbons (wetness).
